1. Quick reference
| Where the booking is | Can you cancel? | Base fare | Agent fee | Platform fee |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Before payment | Yes, instantly | N/A | N/A | N/A |
| Agent accepted; ticket not uploaded | Request, reviewed by admin | Full refund if approved | Non-refundable | Non-refundable |

| Verification failed after 3 re-uploads | Already cancelled by system | Full refund | Refundable | Non-refundable |
The TatkalDone Service Charge (platform fee) is non-refundable in all circumstances. "Full refund" in this table and throughout this policy refers to the base fare and, where applicable, the agent fee — never the platform fee. The agent deposit is an agent-side commitment, is not visible to you, and does not affect your refund.
2. The two clocks you need to know
Two automatic deadlines run on every booking:
- Agent response window — once your request is broadcast, agents have a fixed window to accept. If no agent accepts within this time, the booking automatically expires and is cancelled. No charge applies because no payment has been made. You may also cancel your request manually at any time during this window without penalty, as no payment has been made.
- User payment window — once an agent has accepted your request and paid their deposit, the booking moves to awaiting user payment and you have a fixed window to complete your payment. If payment is not received within this window, the booking moves to failed and is cancelled automatically. No charge applies to you because no payment was made. See Refund Policy.
The exact durations are configurable and displayed on the booking page as a live countdown. Always rely on the on-screen timer rather than a memorised number.
3. Cancellation by you, before payment
If you have created a booking request but not yet paid, you can abandon it at no cost. Either tap Cancel on the booking page or simply close the tab — unpaid drafts older than the auto-expiry window are cleaned up automatically. There is nothing to refund because no money has changed hands.
4. Cancellation by you, after an agent has accepted
Once an agent accepts, they have:
- Locked in their deposit;
- Reserved time during the Tatkal window, which they cannot use for another customer;
- Begun attempting your booking on IRCTC.
Cancellation from this point forward is a request, not an instant action.
4.1 How to request cancellation
On the booking page, tap Request cancellation and provide a reason. Your request is recorded against the booking and reviewed by our admin team.
4.2 How the request is decided
- Approved — base fare refunded if the request is reviewed before the agent has uploaded a valid ticket image, or if the agent confirms they have not begun booking. The agent fee and TatkalDone Service Charge (platform fee) are non-refundable because the agent has already committed their time. The agent's deposit is released back to them, or forfeited if the agent caused the cancellation.
- Approved — base fare and agent fee refunded if the agent failed to complete the booking or caused an unauthorised cancellation. The TatkalDone Service Charge (platform fee) remains non-refundable.
- Rejected if the agent has already uploaded a valid ticket that is in admin verification, or has already delivered the ticket. At that point the service has been rendered. See section 6 for post-delivery cancellation.
The admin team's decision is final, subject to your right to raise a grievance under the Grievance Redressal Policy.
4.3 Typical timing
- Cancellation requests submitted during the Tatkal booking window for your selected class (shown on the booking page) are reviewed within 30 minutes, because the admin team is actively monitoring the queue.
- Requests submitted outside that window are typically reviewed within 24 hours.
Note: After 8:00 AM IST on the day of travel, the cancellation option is no longer available on the platform. If you wish to cancel your booking, you must do so before this cutoff.
5. Cancellation by the platform
We may cancel a booking on our own initiative if:
- No agent accepted within the response window — no charge applies because no payment was made.
- You did not pay within the user payment window after an agent accepted — no charge applies because no payment was made.
- IRCTC was inaccessible for the duration of the booking attempt due to an outage, maintenance, or force majeure, and no agent could complete the booking — the base fare is refunded in full. The TatkalDone Service Charge (platform fee) is non-refundable.
- Verification failed three times during the re-upload process — the booking is automatically cancelled, the base fare and agent fee are refunded, the agent's deposit is forfeited, and the TatkalDone Service Charge (platform fee) remains non-refundable.
- Fraud, abuse, duplicate payment, or a violation of our Terms is detected — we will explain the reason for the cancellation and refund the base fare where applicable. The TatkalDone Service Charge (platform fee) remains non-refundable.
Every platform-initiated cancellation is recorded in the booking's state history and is visible to you on the booking page.
6. Post-delivery responsibility and refund limitations
Once your ticket has been delivered and verified, TatkalDone's service obligation for that booking is complete. The booking exists under the agent's IRCTC account, and TatkalDone has no further role, contact mechanism, or authority over that booking once it has been delivered.
This means:
- Voluntary cancellation — Confirmed Tatkal tickets are non-refundable under IRCTC rules. TatkalDone cannot cancel, modify, or file any request against a delivered ticket, as it is not the IRCTC account holder. The base fare, agent fee, and TatkalDone Service Charge are all non-refundable once the ticket has been delivered.
- Train cancellation, diversion, or major delay — Refund eligibility in these situations is governed entirely by IRCTC's Ticket Deposit Receipt (TDR) process. A TDR can only be filed by the IRCTC account holder, which is the booking agent — not TatkalDone and not you. TatkalDone has no mechanism to compel, coordinate, or facilitate this process, as TatkalDone does not maintain contact between you and the agent after delivery. If you experience such a situation, your recourse is limited to whatever remedies you are independently able to pursue through IRCTC's own grievance or refund channels.
- Waitlisted or RAC tickets — TatkalDone does not treat a waitlisted (WL) or RAC booking as a successfully delivered ticket. If a booking remains on WL/RAC, it is handled under TatkalDone's verification process before delivery (see section 4), not under this section. You will not receive a WL/RAC ticket as a "delivered" booking.
- Non-refundable charges — The TatkalDone Service Charge and agent fee are non-refundable in all post-delivery scenarios, except where an Agent-Caused Cancellation occurs before you have been notified of delivery.
TatkalDone's role is strictly limited to delivering a verified, confirmed PNR. We strongly recommend monitoring your PNR status independently through IRCTC's official channels, particularly as your travel date approaches.
7. Disputing a cancellation outcome
If you believe a cancellation was handled incorrectly — for example, the booking was marked failed for non-payment but you have proof of payment, or a re-upload was rejected unfairly — raise it through the Grievance channel. Include the booking ID, your account details, screenshots of the payment, and any notifications you received. See the Grievance Redressal Policy for timelines.
8. Changes to this Cancellation Policy
We may update this Cancellation Policy from time to time as the platform evolves, including where we introduce new booking flows or revise our fee structure.
Material changes will be notified on this page and, where they affect open bookings, through an in-app notification. By continuing to use the platform after an updated policy takes effect, you agree to the revised Cancellation Policy.
